How To Turn Envelopes Into A Romantic Inspired Album

Hello Everyone!

Wow, nothing like letting life
take control.
In my last post, I had intended
to share a project I had recently created,
but did not get it posted
as I intended.

So finally here it is.....
A Romantic Envelope Album

I had watched a video by the uber talented
Marta Lapkowska
on how to create journals
with just about anything ,
and in any style.
One, just happened to be
created with envelopes.

So I put several sizes of these
envelope journals together
and chose to use one as a romantic album.

For the cover, I used a cereal box.

In creating the pages, I left some of the envelope
openings in tact, using them to tuck away tags, with charm dangles that coordinated with the page.

I added handmade embellishments,
including flowers & cabochon topped paper clips
throughout the album, I also added tags & tag sleeves,
and used seam binding for the closure.

Back Cover Details

This was a gift made for someone
that is very special to me,
so a lot of my heart was in the details.

Really a fairly easy project to create, and did I mention I had never created ANY journal or album like this before?

Hope you enjoy.

Stay tuned, as I have finally learned
the basics of my webcam, and I am planning to do
a video, step by step, on how to create
an album/journal with envelopes.

Until next time,

Being Crafty Comes In Many Forms

Happy Blessed Sunday!

No matter what may be
going on in your life,
today is a blessing
because it is a day
to have been blessed with.

Last night, as I combed
through many phone pics,
captured at our youngest nieces
1st birthday party,
I was reminded of just
how blessed my life truly is.

The love of family, is one
of life's greatest blessings.

I was also reminded
at how busy I have been
these last two weeks,
getting prepped & celebrating
my family.

Being crafty comes in many forms,
even in cake baking and decorating.
I was blessed to be with a couple of
our older nieces, as they wanted
to surprised their mom, with her
favorite cake, at her surprise
anniversary party.

This is what we created together,

I had also made an 11x14 mixed media canvas
as a present to my sister & brother in law
featuring the phrase
"All Because Two People
Fell In Love"

For our festivities for our
youngest niece yesterday
I created a couple of cards
and was blessed with the honor
of making her birthday smash cake.
All themed Minnie Mouse

So, there is just some of the craftiness
I had been busy with these last couple of weeks.

Thanks for stopping by,
please visit again soon.

And until the next time

A Vintage Rose Emporium Exclusive-Old Shoe Transformation Inspired By Marie Antionette

Hello Crafty Friends!
Welcome to INSPIRE,
a blog for creative inspiration.

I am here to share with you, a brief tutorial
on how to turn an old shoe into an inspired treasure.

I have had these pointed toe "mules" for many years. They were loved, and were worn well.
Older feet, means more comfort in footwear,
and well, these were never comfortable.

My inspiration to transform the shoe,
came from 2 sources, the opulent styling's of
Marie Antoinette, and the GORGEOUS ruffled trim, appliques, flower, braided & ruffled satin ribbons
from The Vintage Rose Emporium.

I began by "cleaning" the entire shoe with warm soapy water. Once dry, I applied 2 coats of white gesso to the entire shoe.

I had purchased a beautiful shabby chic printed tissue paper on clearance a while back, so I used the various prints, to cover the inside, front and heal of the shoe, applied with matte medium.

I used permanent fabric glue, to adhere to rows of the luscious sheer, pink satin trimmed ruffle trim to the inner edge of the shoe, in addition to the braided trim, flower and a single portion of the sheer trim to the back of the shoe.

I created mini rosettes to complement the flower
on the front of the shoe, and added them to each side where the sheer trim ended.

To complete the shoe, VRE heart applique, and floral bow, in addition to the white ribbon bows (a gift from a crafty friend), beaded trim, white feathers & for the sole and heal cap, I used some rose-gold paint, all from my personal stash.

So, there you have it, an easy and elegant transformation for an old shoe.

I hope that you enjoyed this tutorial, and find yourself inspired by this project.

For absolutely beautiful trims, ribbon, lace, appliques and more, that are vintage or vintage inspired
visit The Vintage Rose Emporium.

Until next time,

Taking a Much Needed Break-To Create

Hello There....
I have had the craziest of schedules
the last 2 weeks, so I had spent the
last couple of days, CREATING.
A much needed break from life I tell ya.

I, like so many other mixed media/crafting individuals,
have fallen head over heals for the
Jane Davenport Mixed Media line,
featured at Michaels.

After a couple of disappointments of them being
out of stock with this popular line,
I FINALLY now have the Magic Wand colored pencils,
and the 3  face acrylic stamps,
and I must say I AM IN CREATING HEAVEN here!

I have only used a couple of the stamps,
and also the pencils,
and I am quite pleased.

I also have finished two more rounds of the
#52 CafeCard Challenge
over at Maremi's Creative Cafe'
on Facebook (even using JD Stamp on one).

If you have not yet ventured to check this group out
you really should, artist's coming together
to share their work, creative tips, and being
encouragers to one another.
An AWESOME group.

That's about it for now, I will be returning in a couple of days
to share my latest DT project for The Robin's Nest.
Stop by and check it out.

Until next time
